Professional head Shots – YOU Need Them!
It came to a time when I needed new headshots, some of my existing ones are 10 plus years old. So I contacted SuperFunkyPenguin Photo + Video which is run by Adele, I am in London and went all the way down to Somerset to get these done. So why the distance? firstly she is part of the Small Business #100 run by the Small Business Britain team. I saw her profile and had a look around. I am also one of the small business #100 collectives.
I liked her clean style, and simple but powerful images, so at the time (Feb 24) I was not prepared to go down there at that time. So I put this on the back burner, however when I came back from the Paralympics I found time to have another look at her work and in December booked a session which was for mid-February.
Now I am one who is always behind the camera and don’t really like photos of me, I sort of grin and bear it. However, I had a preliminary zoon call to discuss what type of photographs and clothes I needed to wear.
The day came and I went to a small town in Somerset and went in, the studio was ready and we discussed what I wanted now I was there. We set up first the office-style photos with lots of prints, my laptop, camera, and walking stick in some of the photos, and as I sat at the desk with all my photographs around me, I felt no panic, stupid grins etc, it felt natural and I started to enjoy the session, as we were taking the photographs we were talking about anything photographic etc, we needed some detail shots and we worked through the list we had prepared. The time went quickly and the props etc were moved around and the last shot of the session is me readying my new book that is about to be available to the public. Its called “An Unexpected Disability” An account of my life from April 2022 when I collapsed and could not walk, changing everything in my life and now photographing Disabled Sports with the pinnacle of going to the Paris Paralympics in 2024.
The session is over, and I headed home. We knew I needed one photo for the rear of my book, and it was delivered when needed.
A few days later the photos were delivered, I got the high-resolution and social media sizes down so no resizing or alterations were needed.
So now I am the proud owner of 10 photos were they worth the money and time to go down and get them done, Yes certainly. I can now go into 2025 with some great images for my continuing work photographing disabled sports.
So would I recommend Adele, most definitely as I did not get any grin-and-bear-it type photographs for me, the session was calm and relaxed and I know that I have a nice set of images to use. I wish I had done this in the past, but I will update them when necessary.
