General Notes

A receipt for the sponsorship will be issued upon return from the Games with a code for the gallery selection after the event, and I have uploaded the images.

Please note that there may be more sponsors than slots available. Currently, a total of 8; this is the same as if it were in a Stock Library when a photograph sells multiple times (it could be hundreds of times). If that does occur, I will make sure other competitors get photos until they all have photos provided I can find contact details for all of them. Please note I cannot guarantee full person coverage of this event.

Interested in Supporting Disability Sports Photography?

If you’d like to sponsor or donate to help me attend and photograph disability sports events, I’d love to hear from you. Your support enables me to continue capturing powerful images that give disabled athletes the recognition they deserve.

📩 For an initial conversation, please email me at:
michael@thedisabilitysportsnetwork.com

I’m currently looking for support in several key areas, including (but not limited to):

  • Travel and accommodation for events
  • Equipment upgrades and maintenance
  • A personal assistant to support me on-site
  • Social media and content management
  • Administrative and grant application support

Your contribution, big or small, makes a real difference in growing visibility and representation for disabled athletes.

I run a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means I have a formal obligation to give back to the community under the guidance of the Charity Commission. One of my key aims is to provide professional photography for disadvantaged disabled athletes – free of charge – to help raise their profiles and celebrate their achievements.

To grow this mission, I’m in the process of bringing on board a team of non-executive directors. Together, we’ll be applying for grants and trust funding to expand this work and make professional sports photography more accessible to the disabled sports community.

The hard truth is that disabled sports receive little to no professional photography coverage compared to mainstream athletics. When I raise the topic of fair payment for my work, the response is often that there simply isn’t any funding — and in today’s cost of living crisis, that’s a very real challenge.

But I refuse to let that stop me.
Over the past two years, I’ve self-funded this vital work because I believe disabled athletes deserve the same standard of visual representation as anyone else. When I began researching the state of disability sports photography in late 2023, I was shocked. The quality was, frankly, poor — even the images used in stock libraries were lacking. Some were so substandard, it’s hard to imagine how they passed any quality control at all. Yet for many organisations, that’s all they have to work with.

Today, I’m proud to say I’ve built a growing archive of over 3,400 high-quality images capturing disabled athletes in action — with dignity, skill, and authenticity. This is just the beginning.https://www.alamy.com/portfolio/thedisabilitysportsnetwork
